Case Study: Roof Maxx
Building a cargo management system that helps trades complete projects efficiently and safely requires a tight collaboration between the fleet manager, end users, and upfitters.
It can be a time-intensive project, but when done correctly, all your dealers and fleets can benefit regardless of the end use or vehicle make and model.
Roofing Restoration Custom Upfit Solution
Roof Maxx is a roof restoration and rejuvenation system that is a safe, easy, proven and affordable alternative to a complicated, expensive and life-disrupting asphalt roof replacement.
Each Roof Maxx work van must be outfitted with a custom-designed sprayer machine that includes two 100-gallon tanks, a poly-diaphragm pump, and a Honda push-button start engine. The sprayer unit also includes an electric reel with 300-ft of hose and a house battery to operate the sprayer.
Messer worked closely with Roof Maxx to design and engineer a custom slider that securely locks the sprayer unit in place during transport and allows the sprayer to easily slide in and out of the van during roof restoration applications.
In addition to the sprayer, Messer engineered the rest of the cargo management solution, which includes:
- Drop-down ladder rack.
- Sealed off cab partition.
- Heavy-duty shelving and bins.
- Power strips.
- Laptop mount.
- And more.
In addition, Messer Work Van Solutions designed and applies the custom, full-vehicle wrap graphics to all Roof Maxx vans.
Roof Maxx thoroughly vetted and considered all aspects of their treatments and the general tune-up process. The cargo management solution was then approved and offered to its dealers.
Ongoing Upfits
When designing the custom cargo management solution, Messer Work Van Solutions and Roof Maxx took special care to create a well-defined blueprint, establishing a standard package and turnkey solution for all future vehicle upfits.
In addition, the two companies worked together to define a process by which new vehicles can be delivered directly to Messer Work Van Solutions to be upfitted. By cutting steps out of the delivery process, Roof Maxx vans get to Messer faster.
Messer has the inventory and production process to wrap and upfit a new vehicle in less than three days. It can then deliver the vehicle directly to the Roof Maxx dealer, or the dealer can drive the van back to its location at its own expense.
The Result
The result of this Roof Maxx and Messer Work Van Solutions collaboration is a finely tuned cargo management solution that enables crews to effectively and efficiently complete jobs and get more projects completed per day.
In addition, the new vehicle delivery and dropship process has cut weeks off of van upfit and delivery timetable. This helps dealers keep their fleets running and satisfy a growing service market.
